gravity

The Greek that is translated as “(in your teaching offering) gravity” in English is translated in Tabasco Chontalas “(don’t teach) with jest,” in Isthmus Mixe as “you shouldn’t just go around joking,” and in Tenango Otomi as “and be respectful.” (Source: John Beekman & Harwood Hess in Notes on Translation, March 1963, p. 1ff.)
