Sadducees

The Greek that is typically transliterated as “Ssadducees” in English is translated in Tepeuxila Cuicatec as “the Sadducees that don’t believe that people rise from the dead” (source: Viola Waterhouse in Notes on Translation August 1966, p. 86ff.) and in the English translation by McKnight (publ. 2023) as Elites [Sadducees]. McKnight explains in his glossary: “A group in Judaism, especially in Jerusalem, who were the upper class, politiocally ruling leaders and responsible for the rulkes, maintenancer, and worship ion the temple in Jerusalem.” New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) with Zeit des Aufatmens or “time to breath again freely.”
