  • Hiligaynon: “and Ziza (the child of Shifi and grandchild of Alon, and great-grandchild of Jedaya. This Jedaya was the son of Shimri and grandchild of Shemaya.)” (Source: Hiligaynon Back Translation)
  • English: “The men in the following list were the leaders of their clans: Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah, Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah. Joshibiah was the son of Seraiah and the grandson of Asiel. Other clan leaders were Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, and Ziza. Ziza was the son of Shiphi and the grandson of Allon, who was the son of Jedaiah, who was the son of Shimri, who was the son of Shemaiah.
Those families became very large/numerous.” (Source: Translation for Translators)

Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 4:37

Ziza the son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah (verse 37): Ziza is listed last, and his genealogy goes back five generations, which may suggest a special importance for him among the list of thirteen princes. In most cases the word son is translated literally in Good News Translation, but it has “descendant” for the relationship between Allon and Jedaiah, Shimri and Shemaiah. However, since none of these men is mentioned elsewhere in the Old Testament, there seems to be no clear reason for the Good News Translation translation.
