SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 18:21

18:21a Putting their small children, their livestock, and their possessions in front of them,

With the little ones ⌊walking⌋ in the front, along with the cattle and all their valuable things,

⌊As they started on their way,⌋ the soldiers walked behind the children with all the domestic animals and their possessions,

18:21b they turned and departed.

Section 19:22-30

The men of Gibeah threatened the Levite and killed his concubine

19:22a While they were enjoying themselves,

They were having a good time
-or-
They were being happy together.

19:22b suddenly the wicked men of the city surrounded the house.

when some bad men from the city encircled the house.
-or-
Then some of the city’s evil men went all around the house.

19:22c Pounding on the door,

They banged on the door
-or-
They beat hard on the door.

19:22d they said to the old man who owned the house,

and yelled at the house owner, the old man. They said,

They shouted at the old man whose house it was and said,

19:22e “Bring out the man who came to your house,

“Send out the man who is at your house

“Bring out the man who is in your home!

19:22f so we can have relations with him!”

so we can have sex with him!”

20:24 On the second day the Israelites advanced against the Benjamites.

SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 21:8

21:8a So they asked, “Which one of the tribes of Israel failed to come up before the LORD at Mizpah?”

That is why they asked, “Which of our clans did not come when we assembled before Yahweh at Mizpah town?”

And so they asked each other who of Israel’s people had not come to Yahweh when they gathered at Mizpah town.

21:8b And, in fact, no one from Jabesh-gilead had come to the camp for the assembly.

1:36 And the border of the Amorites extended from the Ascent of Akrabbim to Sela and beyond.

The border of the Amorite land went from Scorpion Pass to Sela and continued ⌊up into the hills from there⌋ .

The land of the people of Amor extended from the Akrabbim mountain road to the town of Sela, and went upward from there.
