9:5a He went to his father’s house in Ophrah,

Then he went to Ophrah town where his father’s family lived.

Then he went to his father’s house in the town of Ophrah.

9:5b and on one stone murdered his seventy brothers, the sons of Jerubbaal.

He killed his seventy brothers, the sons of Gideon, all on the same rock.

On a rock there he killed his brothers, the seventy (70) sons of Gideon.

9:5c But Jotham, the youngest son of Jerubbaal, survived, because he hid himself.

But Jotham, the youngest son of Gideon, hid and so he escaped.

There was only Jotham his youngest brother who remained. He hid and they did not kill him.
