SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 9:29

9:29a If only this people were under my authority,

If only I was made the leader of this people.
-or-
I would like to lead the people of Shechem.

9:29b I would remove Abimelech;

I would quickly chase Abimelek away.
-or-
Then I would remove Abimelek.

9:29c I would say to him, ‘Muster your army and come out!’”

I would say, “Come on, Abimelek, gather your troops ⌊and come and fight me⌋ .’ ”

I would say to him, ‘Abimelek, bring together your whole army ⌊and we will fight⌋ .’”

10:4a He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys.

15:14b And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him.
