SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 6:16

6:16a “Surely I will be with you,” the LORD replied,

Yahweh answered him, “I will be with you. (sing.)

Yahweh said, “I will be with you.

6:16b “and you will strike down all the Midianites as one man.”

You will defeat the people of Midian and all of them will die.”

You will kill all the Midian people and nobody will be left alive.”

7:8a So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents

So Gideon sent everyone home

So Gideon sent the others home.

7:8b but kept the three hundred men, who took charge of the provisions and rams’ horns of the others.

except for the three hundred. Those who remained took the provisions and the trumpets of those who left.

He kept the three hundred soldiers ⌊who lapped water with their hands⌋ . The three hundred kept the food and the trumpets of those ⌊who were sent home⌋ .

7:8c And the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley.

Now the camp of the Midian people was in the valley below Gideon’s camp.

8:15a And Gideon went to the men of Succoth and said,

Gideon went to the people of Sukkoth town and said to them,

8:15b “Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me, saying,

SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 11:33

11:33a With a great blow he devastated twenty cities from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel-keramim.

He destroyed twenty towns from Aroer to Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim.

They defeated twenty (20) towns, from Aroer town to Minnith town, and as far as the town of Abel Keramim.

11:33b So the Ammonites were subdued before the Israelites.
