19:23a The owner of the house went out and said to them,

The house owner went outside and said,

The man who lived there came out of the house and said,

19:23b “No, my brothers, do not do this wicked thing!

“Friends, please do not do such a terrible thing.

“No my brothers, you (plur.) must not act in such a evil way.

19:23c After all, this man is a guest in my house. Do not commit this outrage.

This man has come to stay in my house. Such a thing is shameful.

⌊I have invited this man and⌋ he is my guest. Do not do this terrible thing.

20:25a That same day the Benjamites came out against them from Gibeah

Once again the Benjamin people came out of Gibeah town.

The people of Benjamin came out from the town of Gibeah to fight them again.

20:25b and cut down another 18,000 Israelites, all of them armed with swords.

They killed another eighteen thousand Israel soldiers who were carrying swords.

They killed eighteen thousand (18,000) soldiers of Israel who were all armed with swords.

21:9 For when the people were counted, none of the residents of Jabesh-gilead were there.

2:1b and said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land that I had promised to your fathers,

He told ⌊the Israelites⌋ , “I brought you (plur.) from Egypt into the country that I promised I would give to your fathers.

The messenger said ⌊to the people of Israel⌋ , “I promised your ancestors that I would give this land to them ⌊and their descendants⌋ . That is why I took them from Egypt and brought them here.

2:1c and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you,

3:10b and he became Israel’s judge and went out to war.

3:10c And the LORD delivered Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram into the hand of Othniel, who prevailed against him.

Yahweh helped Othniel to fight Cushan-Rishathaim the king of Aram, and he defeated him.

4:11a Now Heber the Kenite had moved away from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses,

Near Kedesh lived Heber a Kenite person. He had left the other Kenites who were descendants of Hobab. Hobab was Moses’ brother-in-law.

There as a man called Heber of the Ken people, who were descended from Hobab the brother-in-law of Moses. Heber had separated from the other Ken people

4:11b and had pitched his tent by the great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.

Heber had moved and set up his tent beside the great tree of Zaanannim.

and lived in his tent near Kedesh town, by the large tree of Zaanannim.

4:11a-b (reordered)

At that time there was a man called Heber who lived not far from the big tree at Zaanannim near Kadesh. He set up his tent there when he moved from ⌊the area of his relatives,⌋ the Ken people. He was a descendant of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses.

5:19a Kings came and fought; then the kings of Canaan fought

The enemy kings, the kings of Canaan came to fight.

5:19b at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo,

They fought at the town of Taanach, near the springs of Megiddo.

5:19c but they took no plunder of silver.

But they took ⌊away nothing with them⌋ . They did not capture any silver.
