12:8a Nevertheless, they will become his servants,

However, they will become Shishak’s servants.

12:8b so that they may learn the difference between serving Me and serving the kings of other lands.”

Then they will know what it is like to serve foreign kings instead of serving me.”

12:9b and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD

he took away all the wealth from the temple of Yahweh,

12:9d He took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.

12:12a Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him,

Because Rehoboam made himself humble, Yahweh abandoned his anger he had against him

King Rehoboam admitted that he was wrong. Because of that Yahweh was no longer angry with him.

12:12b and He did not destroy him completely.

King Rehoboam completed his reign

12:13a Thus King Rehoboam established himself in Jerusalem.

King Rehoboam became powerful in Jerusalem

12:13b

and continued to be the king.

and continued to reign there.

12:13c He was forty-one years old when he became king,

His age was forty-one when he became king

He was forty-one (41) years old when he became king.

12:13d and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem,

and he ruled in Jerusalem for seventeen years.

He lived in⌋ Jerusalem and was king of Judah for seventeen (17) years.

12:13e the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel in which to put His Name.

This was the town that Yahweh chose from all the clans of Israel to be the place of worship for his name.

12:13f His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.
