12:9a So King Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem

When Shishak the king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem

12:9b and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD

he took away all the wealth from the temple of Yahweh,

They carried away the valuable things from the house of Yahweh,

12:9c and of the royal palace.

and the wealth of the king’s palace.

and the valuable things from the house of the king.

12:9d He took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.

He removed all that was valuable, including the shields of gold that Solomon had made.

They took away everything. They even took the shields that King Solomon had made with gold.

12:12a Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him,

Because Rehoboam made himself humble, Yahweh abandoned his anger he had against him

12:12b and He did not destroy him completely.

and did not destroy ⌊his kingdom⌋.

12:12c Indeed, conditions were good in Judah.

11:4c Each of you must return home,

11:4d for this word is from Me.’”
