The name that is transliterated as “Judah” or “Judea” in English (referring to the son of Jacob, the tribe, and the territory) is translated in Spanish Sign Language as “lion” (referring to Genesis 49:9 and Revelation 5:5). Kupsabiny: “Then, Jehoram died and was buried where his forefathers were buried in the City of David. After that, his son Ahaziah ruled to replace him.” (Source: Kupsabiny Back Translation)
Newari: “Jehoram died, as had his ancestors. He was buried with them in the city of David. His son, Ahaziah became king in his place.” (Source: Newari Back Translation)
Hiligaynon: “When Jehoram died, he was- buried together with his ancestors in the Town of David. And Ahazia his child was-the-one who succeeded him as king.” (Source: Hiligaynon Back Translation)
English: “Jehoram died and was buried where the other kings of Judah had been buried in the part of Jerusalem called ‘The City of David’. Then Jehoram’s son Ahaziah became the king.” (Source: Translation for Translators)
Slept with his fathers: See the comments on 1 Kgs 1.21 and 2.10.
Was buried with his fathers: See the comments on 1 Kgs 14.31.
The city of David: See the comments on 1 Kgs 2.10.
Reigned in his stead: This is the same in Hebrew as the words translated “became king in his stead” in verse 15. In other languages it will be more natural to say something like “followed him as king.” See the comments on 1 Kgs 11.43.
