The Israel people had run from the Benjamin people.

During the fight⌋ the Israel soldiers had run away from the Benjamin soldiers.

20:36c because they were relying on the ambush they had set against Gibeah.

They ran⌋ because they were trusting in the ambush which they had set near Gibeah town.

This was part of the surprise attack that they had planned against Gibeah town.

Because the Israel soldiers had already set a trap near Gibeah town, at first they lured the Benjamin soldiers away ⌊from the town⌋ by retreating in front of them.

2:1a Now the angel of the LORD went up from Gilgal to Bochim

The angel of Yahweh went up from Gilgal to Bokim.

2:1b and said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land that I had promised to your fathers,

Near Kedesh lived Heber a Kenite person. He had left the other Kenites who were descendants of Hobab. Hobab was Moses’ brother-in-law.

There as a man called Heber of the Ken people, who were descended from Hobab the brother-in-law of Moses. Heber had separated from the other Ken people

4:11b and had pitched his tent by the great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.

Heber had moved and set up his tent beside the great tree of Zaanannim.

and lived in his tent near Kedesh town, by the large tree of Zaanannim.

At that time there was a man called Heber who lived not far from the big tree at Zaanannim near Kadesh. He set up his tent there when he moved from ⌊the area of his relatives,⌋ the Ken people. He was a descendant of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses.
