Section 16:23-31

Samson died

16:23a Now the lords of the Philistines gathered together

Then the Philistia rulers gathered
-or-
One day the leaders of Philistia all got together ⌊to celebrate⌋

16:23b to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon,

to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon
-or-
and to sacrifice a lot of animals to their god Dagon.

16:23c They rejoiced

and to celebrate.

The rulers praised their god

16:23d and said, “Our god has delivered Samson our enemy into our hands.”

They said, “Our god has given us Samson our enemy.”

and said, “Samson was our enemy, but our god helped us defeat him.”
