-or-

16:10b for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.

For he is working for the Lord, the same as I am.
-or-
He is working for the Lord in the same way that I work for the Lord.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 1:18

1:18a For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,

For the message/talk about Christ dying on the cross seems like nonsense to people who are perishing.
-or-
People who are headed toward ruin/destruction think/say that the message about Christ dying on the cross is foolish talk.

1:18b but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

However, to us (incl.) who God is saving/delivering from sin, this message is God’s powerful way to save us.
-or-
But we (incl.) who have salvation know that God powerfully saves people through the message of the cross.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 3:3

3:3a for you are still worldly.

You still live as the people of this world live.
-or-
You are still influenced by your human/evil nature.
-or-

I say that⌋ because you are still controlled by your fleshly/natural desires.

3:3b For since there is jealousy and dissension among you,

You are envious/jealous of one another, and you argue with each other.
-or-

I know that this is true about you⌋ for you are jealous and quarrelsome.

3:3c are you not worldly?

Does this not mean/show that you are ⌊living/just⌋ like the people of this world?
-or-
Does this not prove that you are influenced/controlled by your human/evil nature?
-or-
This/That shows that you are still obeying/following your own fleshly/natural desires.

3:3d Are you not walking in the way of man?

Are you not behaving like people who do not know God?
-or-
You are acting no differently from the people of this world.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 7:22

7:22a For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord’s freedman.

(Revised Standard Version) For he who was called in the Lord as a slave is a freedman of the Lord.

For a person who was a slave when he was called to become a Christian is now a freedman to/of the Lord.
-or-

It is all right either way⌋ because even if you were a slave at the time when God called/invited you to be united with the Lord ⌊Jesus⌋, the Lord ⌊Jesus⌋ has made you his own and freed you ⌊from the power of evil/wrongdoing⌋.

7:22b Conversely, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ’s slave.

In the same way, a person who was free when God called/chose him ⌊to become a Christian⌋ now belongs to Christ and so is Christ’s slave.
-or-
In the same way, if you were without a master when God called/invited you ⌊to be joined together with the Lord Jesus Christ⌋, you now belong to Christ and he is your master.
