14:19a But in the church, I would rather speak five coherent words to instruct others

14:19b than ten thousand words in a tongue.

than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

that is better than speaking thousands/millions of words in an unknown/miraculous language.

15:11a Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach,

15:11b and this is what you believed.

15:43a It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory.

The body that is buried is dishonorable, but when it comes back to life it will be glorious.

When we (incl.) bury a body it is ugly, but when God raises it from the dead it will be beautiful.

15:43b It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.

The body that is buried is weak, but when ⌊God⌋ raises it from the dead, it will be powerful.

Our (incl.) bodies now are weak, but when they rise they will be strong.

16:17a I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived,

16:17b because they have supplied what was lacking from you.

(Revised Standard Version) because they have made up for your absence.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 1:25

1:25a For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom,

For although God ⌊appears to have done something⌋ foolish, he is wiser than any human being,

For although people might think God was foolish, he was wise. God’s plan was, in fact, wiser than any human wisdom.
-or-
Even though God’s plan ⌊to redeem humans from sin⌋ seems like nonsense to unbelievers, it is wise. God’s plan is wiser than anything human beings ⌊could plan⌋.

1:25b and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

and when God appears to be weak, he is still more powerful than any human being.

Although unbelievers think that God was weak ⌊when he allowed Christ to die⌋, he wasn’t. God is much more powerful than the most powerful person.

Even though unbelievers think that God was weak ⌊when he allowed Christ to be crucified⌋. God showed/demonstrated his power which is greater/stronger than that of human beings.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 3:10

3:10a By the grace God has given me,

Using the ability that God graciously gave to me,
-or-
God was gracious to me and made me able to work for him.

3:10b I laid a foundation as an expert builder,

I did the work of an wise/skillful expert house builder by laying the foundation.
-or-
I was ⌊the first to preach the gospel among you,⌋ like a skilled builder laying a foundation.

3:10c and someone else is building on it.

⌊Since that time,⌋ other workers are ⌊continuing the work by⌋ building on top of the foundation ⌊that I laid⌋.
-or-
Now ⌊other Christian workers are teaching you,⌋ just like other builders put/build the rest of the building on top of the foundation.

3:10d But each one must be careful how he builds.

But every worker must be careful how he builds.

But ⌊each worker must make sure that he teaches well/correctly,⌋ just like builders must make sure that they build carefully/correctly on the foundation,
