Hide them all in the dust together: Hide here is a poetic term for “bury.” Them refers to the proud ones in the previous verse. Dust refers to the grave, and so the line means “Bury them all in the ground” or “… in the grave.”

Bind their faces in the world below: bind translates a verb meaning “to imprison.” Their faces is the use of a part for the whole, meaning “them.” In the world below translates a noun based on the verb “hide,” and means “a hidden place,” as the Revised Standard Version footnote shows. The reference is to the dark places of Sheol, or Good News Translation “world of the dead.” The verse may be expressed “Put them in the ground in the prison which is Sheol, the place of the dead” or “Bury them and lock them up in the dark world of the dead.”
