Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 9:42

Jarah is called “Jehoaddah” in the parallel text of 1 Chr 8.36 (see the comments there). Some Hebrew manuscripts and the Septuagint, followed by New International Version, read “Jadah” here. If “Jadah” is the correct reading, then it will be seen as a shortened form of the name “Jehoaddah.” New Living Translation has “Jadah” both here and in 8.36.
