Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 9:41

Tahre-a is called “Tarea” in 1 Chr 8.35 and so rendered by Good News Translation here.

The name Ahaz is missing in the Hebrew manuscripts of this verse. But based on the parallel text of 8.35 and its presence in the Syriac and one manuscript of the Septuagint, it has been supplied by Revised Standard Version and most other modern versions. A scribe probably accidentally omitted the name since the next verse begins with the same name Ahaz. However, the name Ahaz is not found in New Jerusalem Bible, New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh, or most French versions (for example, Bible en français courant, Nouvelle version Segond révisée, Nouvelle Bible Segond, Traduction œcuménique de la Bible, New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh, Osty-Trinquet).
