family / clan / house

The Hebrew terms that are translated as “family” or “clan” or “house” or similar in English are all translated in Kwere as ng’holo or “clan.” (Source: Pioneer Bible Translators, project-specific translation notes in Paratext)

In the English translation by Goldingay (2018) it is translated as “kin-group.”

Jerusalem

The name that is transliterated as “Jerusalem” in English is signed in French Sign Language with a sign that depicts worshiping at the Western Wall in Jerusalem:

Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 9:38

This verse is virtually the same as 1 Chr 8.32 (see the comments there). Shime-am is called “Shime-ah” there, and Good News Translation uses the same spelling here.

Jeiel/Jehiel married Macaah and their firstborn son was Abdon. ⌊Their other sons were⌋ Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zeker, and Mikloth. ⌊They all⌋ lived in ⌊the town of⌋ Gibeon. But Mikloth and his son Shimeam lived in ⌊the city of⌋ Jerusalem with their other relatives.
