Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 6:69

Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands: As in verse 61, some scholars correct the Masoretic Text here to include the tribe of Dan. The parallel text in Josh 21.23-24 says “23 and out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands, 24 Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands….” New American Bible corrects the Masoretic Text here to read “From the tribe of Dan: Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands, Aijalon with its pasture lands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands” (similarly Knoppers, Herder). Einheitsübersetzung adds the same words within parentheses. However, translators should follow the Masoretic Text here and not correct it to agree with the text in Josh 21.
