Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 23:21

The sons of Merari …: Merari was one of Levi’s sons (verse 6), the others being Gershon and Kohath. Verses 21-23 list his descendants. Merari’s sons are listed also in Exo 6.19 and 1 Chr 6.19. Since so many persons have been named since verse 6, it may be helpful to begin this verse with “Levi’s son Merari had two sons….”
