11:30a Jephthah made this vow to the LORD:

Jephthah made a promise to Yahweh.

11:30b “If indeed You will deliver the Ammonites into my hand,

13:7a But he said to me, ‘Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son.

But he said, ‘You will conceive, and you will give birth to a son.

He told me that I will become pregnant and have a son.

13:7b Now, therefore, do not drink wine or strong drink,

Therefore, do not drink wine or any drinks that have alcohol.

He said that I must not drink wine or other drinks with alcohol in them.

13:7c and do not eat anything unclean,

Do not eat any food that is unclean.

And I must not eat anything that is ⌊ritually⌋ unclean.

13:7d because the boy will be a Nazirite to God from the womb until the day of his death.’”

This is because the boy will be a Nazirite. He will be dedicated to God from the day he is born, and until the day he dies.’ ”
