18:26b “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it.

“Kindly speak to us, (excl.) your servants, in Aramaic, because we understand it.

18:26c Do not speak with us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”

Do not speak in Hebrew, for the people on the wall will hear.”

22:1a Josiah was eight years old when he became king,

The king also defiled/spoiled the hilltop shrines to the east of Jerusalem.

23:13b to the south of the Mount of Corruption,

This is a reference to the Mount of Olives. The author referred to it as “the Mount of Corruption/Destruction” because people were worshiping idols there.

These shrines were on the southern side of the Hill of Ruin.

23:13c which King Solomon of Israel had built

These were the shrines that Solomon king of Israel had built.

King Solomon of Israel had caused/ordered these worship places built.

23:13d for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians,

They were for ⌊worshiping⌋ Ashoreth the abominable/detestable goddess of the Sidonians,

One had been built⌋ ⌊to honor⌋ Ashtoreth, the horrible female idol/thing whom the people of Sidon ⌊worship⌋ .

23:13e for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites,

23:13f and for Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

The Hebrew text says “and for Milcom….” It is probable but not certain that this is another name for the god Molek. See 1 Kings 11:7, 33.
