14:6a Because the land was at peace, Asa built fortified cities in Judah.

He strengthened the defences of the cities of Judah, since there was peace in the land.

14:6b In those days no one made war with him, because the LORD had given him rest.

During those years, no army attacked him, for Yahweh gave him peace.
