SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 11:23

11:23a For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:

For I received from the Lord Jesus ⌊the teaching⌋ that I then handed on to you (plur.).

For I learned ⌊this tradition⌋ from the Lord and then taught it to you.

11:23b The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread,

⌊Early⌋ on the night that Judas betrayed him, the Lord Jesus picked up some bread.

On the evening in which Judas handed him over ⌊to his enemies⌋, the Lord Jesus took ⌊a loaf of⌋ bread.

12:21a The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.”

An eye cannot say to a hand, “I have no need of you.”

The eyes cannot tell the hands that they are unnecessary.

12:21b Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.”

And also a head cannot say to a foot, “I have no need of you.”

And also the head cannot tell the feet that they are unnecessary.

14:9a So it is with you.
