12:6a There are different ways of working,

There are different kinds of work to do,

12:6b but the same God works all things in all people.

but it is the same God who makes it possible for everyone to do all of them.

13:7a It bears all things, believes all things

Love endures anything. Love trusts the people it loves.

If we love ⌊other people⌋, we are willing to endure ⌊all their faults patiently⌋. We remain loyal to them in every situation.

13:7b hopes all things, endures all things.

Love hopes ⌊for good⌋ in all circumstances. Love continues even when it is difficult.
-or-
If we love ⌊other people⌋, we always hope ⌊that they will do good things⌋. We continue to love them ⌊no matter what they do⌋.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 14:26

14:26a What then shall we say, brothers?

So what is the conclusion, brothers and sisters?
-or-
So what does this imply, my friends?

14:26b When you come together,

When you (plur.) meet together,
-or-
When you meet to worship,

14:26c everyone has a psalm or a teaching,

all of you can sing a song/hymn, or teach something.
-or-
one person has a song to sing. One person has a lesson to teach.

14:26d a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation.

Or you can speak a message that God has revealed, or say something in unknown tongues, or interpret what is said.
-or-
One person has a message that God has revealed to him. One person speaks in unknown/miraculous languages, and one person explains the meaning of what they said.

14:26e All of these must be done to build up the church.

Everything should be done in order to encourage the believers.
-or-
Whatever you do, do it to help the church.

15:18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

Then also those people who have died trusting Christ have died completely and will never live again.

And in addition, if Christ has not become alive again, believers who have died are gone ⌊forever⌋.

15:50a Now I declare to you, brothers, that

15:50b flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God,

our natural/material/physical bodies cannot have a part in the place where God rules.

15:50c nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Things that decay cannot live in the place where nothing will decay.

It is the Holy Spirit who makes people truly wise

2:1b I did not come with eloquence or wisdom

I did not speak to you using important-sounding speech and I did not try to sound wise

I did not use big/fancy words, and I did no talk to you as though I knew more than others

2:1c as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

(New Revised Standard Version) proclaiming the mystery of God to you

as I declared to you the mystery of God.

as I preached to you God’s hidden/secret message.

SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 3:17

3:17a If anyone destroys God’s temple,

If any person destroys this temple of/for God,
-or-
If some workers cause ⌊you who are like⌋ God’s temple to become disunited/disunified,

3:17b God will destroy him;

then God will punish that person severely,
-or-
God will ruin those workers completely.

3:17c for God’s temple is holy,

because the temple/place where God lives is holy,

God’s dwelling place is set apart for God himself,

3:17d and you are that temple.

and you yourselves ⌊as a group⌋ are that very holy temple/place.
