16:8a “Give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name;

16:40a to regularly present burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offerings,

⌊He left them there⌋ to regularly offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar for burnt offering.

⌊The work of these priests⌋ was to give burnt sacrifices to Yahweh. ⌊They were to do this⌋ continually on the altar of burnt sacrifices.

16:40b morning and evening, according to all that was written in the Law of the LORD,

⌊They were to do this⌋ every morning and evening. ⌊They were to ⌋ follow everything that was written in the Law of Yahweh.

18:2a David also defeated the Moabites,

18:2b and they became subject to David and brought him tribute.

⌊So king David’s army⌋ forced ⌊the Moab people⌋ to be under his authority and they brought him tax.

21:22d so that the plague upon the people may be halted.”

23:5a 4,000 are to be gatekeepers

All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of Yahweh. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, harps, and lyres at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman reported directly to the king.
