The Greek in Matthew 23:13 that is translated as “you lock people out of the kingdom of heaven” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) as “you lock up the kingdom of heaven by ever ratcheting up the admission restrictions.”
