The Greek in John 9:24 that is translated as “We know that this man is a sinner” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) as a rhetorical question: Es ist doch klar, dass dieser Mensch namens Jesus ein Sünder ist, oder? or “It’s obvious that this person called Jesus is a sinner, isn’t it?”
