The Greek in John 7:23 that is translated as “if a man receives circumcision” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) as (wird) ein Knabe beschnitten, also an einem Teil seines Körpers krank gemacht or “if a boy is circumcised and is therefore made sick at one part of his body.”
