Here is my servant . . .

The Greek in Matthew 12:18 that is translated as “here is my servant” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) with das ist mein Sohn or “this is my son.” The translators explain: “The Hebrew text has ‘slave,’ the Greek of the Septuagint uses a word that can mean both ‘slave and ‘child’ [παῖς]. For Matthew, the text in Isaiah 42:13 is obviously the template for the baptismal voice (Matthew 3:17). According to his understanding, it therefore refers to the ‘son.’”
