Translation commentary on Job 36:1

And Elihu continued, and said: Elihu, who began speaking in chapter 32, continues without interruption until the end of chapter 37. Verse 1 is the same conventional opening used for each of the friends of Job, except “answered” is here replaced by continued. This line may also be translated, for example, “Elihu continued speaking” or “Elihu went ahead with his speech.”

Translators will notice that Good News Translation leaves implicit the information that Elihu is continuing his speech. For those translations that consider this to be a fourth speech, or a fourth segment of the speech, it may be necessary to retain some kind of marker to indicate this kind of a break.
