SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 12:9

12:9a to another faith by the same Spirit,

Some people are given, through the same Spirit, ⌊the ability⌋ to believe him ⌊deeply/firmly⌋.

12:9b to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,

13:10 but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.

2:4c but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,

Instead, the Holy Spirit showed his power.

Rather, the Holy Spirit showed you in a powerful way ⌊that the message I preached was true⌋.

No, ⌊you believed the message I preached because⌋ God’s Spirit persuaded/convinced you with his great power ⌊that it was true⌋.

3:20a And again,

And these words are also ⌊written in the Scriptures⌋ :

3:20b “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

“The Lord knows that what wise/clever people think is worthless.”
