SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Corinthians 12:15

12:15a If the foot should say,

If the foot says,
-or-

⌊For example,⌋ suppose a foot were to say that

12:15b “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,”

“I am not a hand so I do not belong to the body,”
-or-
it does not belong to the body because it is not a hand.

12:15c that would not make it any less a part of the body.

it does not stop being part of the body because it said that.

Even though it is not a hand, it is still a part of the body.

But someone who prophesies is speaking to people

14:35a If they wish to inquire about something, they are to ask their own husbands at home;

1:9 God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

God is trustworthy, and he has called you into union with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

You can trust God, who has invited/appointed you to be joined/united to his Son Jesus Christ our (incl.) Lord. ⌊He always does just what he says.⌋
