The captain of the guard is identified by Good News Translation as “Nebuzaradan, the commanding officer” (see verse 12).

Took: The real sense in this context is brought out by Good News Translation with “took away as prisoners.”

Seraiah was the grandson of Hezekiah, Josiah’s high priest; he is not the Seraiah mentioned in 36.26 or 40.8.

Zephaniah is identified as the second priest. This means he was second in rank after the chief priest.

Keepers of the threshold: See 35.4. Good News Translation identifies them with the general term “other important Temple officials.”
