SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 7:7

7:7a Thus the Arameans had arisen and fled at twilight,

Then the Arameans/soldiers got/jumped up and ran away in the dark.

-or-

At once they ran off into the night.

7:7b abandoning their tents and horses and donkeys.

They abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys.

-or-

They left their tents behind, as well as their horses and donkeys.

7:7c The camp was intact,

They abandoned their camp just as it was

-or-

They took nothing from their camp with them.

7:7d and they had run for their lives.

and ran away to save their lives.

-or-

They just fled, because ⌊they wanted⌋ to live.
