The Hebrew phrase that the Berean Standard Bible translates as “spoke kindly to Jehoiachin” is literally “spoke to him good things/words.”
King Awel-Marduk spoke to him in a good/friendly way. Then he gave him a position of respect

25:28b above the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
that was better/higher than the positions of the other ⌊exiled/subject⌋ kings who were with him in Babylon.
