25:28a And he spoke kindly to Jehoiachin and set his throne

The Hebrew phrase that the Berean Standard Bible translates as “spoke kindly to Jehoiachin” is literally “spoke to him good things/words.”

King Awel-Marduk spoke to him in a good/friendly way. Then he gave him a position of respect

The king of Babylon treated him well and honored him.

25:28b above the thrones of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.

that was better/higher than the positions of the other ⌊exiled/subject⌋ kings who were with him in Babylon.

He placed/honored him above the other ⌊foreign⌋ kings there with him in Babylon/Babylonia.
