24:17a Then the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place

Mattaniah was a younger brother of the previous king, Jehoiakim.

Then instead of Jehoiachin he made Jehoiachin’s uncle, Mattaniah, king ⌊of Judah⌋ .

After this, Nebuchadnezzar chose Mattaniah, brother to Jehoiachin’s father, to replace Jehoiachin as king ⌊of Judah⌋ .

24:17b and changed his name to Zedekiah.

He changed Mattaniah’s name to Zedekiah.

Then he gave him the new name Zedekiah.
