SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 17:23

17:23a Finally, the LORD removed Israel from His presence,

until ⌊finally⌋ Yahweh pushed them away from himself.

-or-

and at last Yahweh caused/allowed their enemies to take them away from his land.

17:23b as He had declared through all His servants the prophets.

Speaking through all his servants the prophets Yahweh had warned them about this.

-or-

This was what he had told them would happen. He had given this message/warning through/by all his servants the prophets.

17:23c So Israel was exiled from their homeland into Assyria,

So the people of Israel were forced to leave their own land and go to the land of Assyria,

-or-

The soldiers of/from Assyria took the people of Israel away from their own country to Assyria.

17:23d where they are to this day.

where they still live.

-or-

That is where they have been/remained ever since.
