SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 1:15

1:15a Then the angel of the LORD said to Elijah,

The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah,

-or-

Then the angel of Yahweh told Elijah

1:15b “Go down with him.

“Go (sing.) down with that one/man to the king.

-or-

that he could go with that army officer back/down ⌊to the king⌋

1:15c Do not be afraid of him.”

Do (sing.) not be afraid of him.”

-or-

without being afraid.

1:15a-c (reordered)

The angel of Yahweh told Elijah that he need not be afraid of that captain/officer. He could accompany him back down to the king.

1:15d So Elijah got up and went down with him to the king.

So Elijah got up and went with that captain/commander to the king.

-or-

So Elijah went with the officer and his soldiers to meet King Ahaziah.
