(Contemporary English Version) Joash hid … with Jehosheba

The Hebrew says “with her.” Most English versions indicate that this refers to Jehosheba. She was the wife of Jehoida the high priest (2 Chronicles 22:11) and so could use the private rooms in the temple.

The boy stayed there with her, hidden

Jehosheba kept/raised Joash in that secret ⌊room⌋

11:3b in the house of the LORD for six years

inside Yahweh’s temple for six years

in the house of Yahweh for six years.

11:3c while Athaliah ruled the land.

while Athaliah ruled over the land ⌊of Judah⌋ .

Meanwhile Athaliah was ruling over Judah.
