20:21a Then Jehoshaphat consulted with the people

After talking with the people,

After King Jehoshaphat listened to the people’s advice

20:21b and appointed those who would sing to the LORD

Jehoshaphat selected some men to sing to Yahweh

he chose some people to sing to Yahweh,

20:21c and praise the splendor of His holiness.

and praise him for being holy and wonderful.

and to praise the beauty of his holiness.

20:21d As they went out before the army,

They sang while they went ahead of the army.

They went in front of the army

20:21e they were singing: “Give thanks to the LORD,

They went and they said, “Give thanks to Yahweh

and they sang, “Thank Yahweh,

20:21f for His loving devotion endures forever.”

because he faithfully loves us forever.”
