20:22a The moment they began their shouts and praises,

When they began to sing and praise,

20:22b the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir

Yahweh sent a surprise attack against the men of Amon, Moab and Mount Seir

Yahweh caused the soldiers from Amon and Moab and the soldiers from Mount Seir to fight each other.

20:22c who had come against Judah,

who were invading Judah,

{Even though} they came to fight Judah,

20:22d and they were defeated.

and Yahweh defeated them.
