16:9a For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth,

For Yahweh is always examining people everywhere in the world

16:9b to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him.

so that he may strengthen those whose hearts are his.

to give strength to those who obey him from the heart.

16:9c You have acted foolishly in this matter.

What you have done is foolish,

You have acted foolishly.

16:9d From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”

so from now on you will ⌊always⌋ be fighting wars.”
