19:8a So he got up and ate and drank.

So Elijah got up. He ate and he drank.

Then he got up, and he ate ⌊some more bread⌋ and he drank ⌊some more water⌋.

19:8b And strengthened by that food,

That food gave him strength

With the strength he got from that food,

That food made him strong enough

19:8c he walked forty days and forty nights

to walk for forty days and forty nights.

Elijah traveled for forty more days and nights

to walk for a full forty days.

19:8d until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

Horeb is another name for Sinai. See Exodus 19:17-20.

He went all the way to Horeb, the mountain of God.

all the way to God’s ⌊holy⌋ mountain called Horeb/⌊Sinai⌋.

Fnally he arrived at Horeb, ⌊that is, Sinai,⌋ the mountain where God ⌊had revealed himself⌋.
