11:28a Now Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor.

Now Jeroboam was a very impressive young man.

11:28b So when Solomon noticed that the young man was industrious,

When Solomon saw how/noticed how well/hard he/Jeroboam worked,

11:28c he put him in charge of the whole labor force of the house of Joseph.

he made him responsible for supervising all the laborers from the tribes of Joseph.
