SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 11:22

11:22a But Pharaoh asked him, “What have you lacked here with me

Pharaoh replied, “Do you (sing) need/want something that I have not given you?
-or-
Pharaoh said to him, “You (sing) have everything that you need here.
-or-
Pharaoh answered Hadad, “Surely you (sing) have everything you could want here in Egypt.

11:22b that you suddenly want to go back to your own country?”

Is that why you (sing) want to return to your homeland?”
-or-
Why do you (sing) want to go back to your own country?”
-or-
There is no need for you (sing) to return to your own land.”

11:22c “Nothing,” Hadad replied, “but please let me go.”

Hadad answered, “I want/need nothing. But you (sing) must let me go ⌊to my own country⌋ !”
-or-
Hadad replied, “Yes, I have ⌊everything here⌋, but please allow me to go ⌊back home⌋ !”
-or-
Hadad said, “Yes, I know that I have everything. But I really want to go back ⌊to Israel⌋ !”
