down from Jerusalem

The Greek that is translated as “down from Jerusalem” in English is translated in Chuj as “the trail which leaves from town Jerusalem arrives there at territory Gaza.” If translated literally it would have had the meaning of a very steep trail. No other term has been found in Chuj for a trail which descends slowly from one place to another.(Source: Kenneth L. Williams in Notes on Translation, December 1963, p. 1-4)
