Section 8:16-24

Jehoram ruled the kingdom of Judah

8:16a In the fifth year of the reign of Joram son of Ahab over Israel,

Joram the son of Ahab ruled Israel for five years.

Ahab’s son Joram became the king of Israel. About five years passed.

8:16b Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat succeeded his father as king of Judah.

In the fifth year, Jehoshaphat’s son Jehoram began to rule Judah.

At that time Jehoshaphat’s son Jehoram became king of Judah.

8:16-ab (reordered)

Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat began to rule Judah when Joram the son of Ahab had been ruling Israel for about five years.
