2:14a Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him
holding the cloak that had fallen from Elijah.

Then he raised Elijah’s coat
2:14b and struck the waters.
He struck the water with the cloak,

and hit the river with it.
2:14c “Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” he asked.
saying, “Is Yahweh, the God of Elijah, here ⌊with me⌋ now?”

He said, “May Yahweh, the God of Elijah, be here with me now!”
2:14d And when he had struck the waters,
The Hebrew text includes a phrase meaning “he also.” This possibly refers to the fact that Elijah had earlier done the same thing.
When Elisha also struck the water,
-or-
As he hit the water of the river,
2:14e they parted to the right and to the left,
it parted to his right and his left,
-or-
the river was cut off ⌊and a path appeared⌋ across the middle!
2:14f and Elisha crossed over.
and he crossed back over the river.
-or-
Elisha walked back across to the other side.
