36:22a In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia,

In the first year that Cyrus was the king of Persia

⌊After seventy years had passed⌋ Cyrus became king of ⌊the land of⌋ Persia. During the first year that he was king

36:22b to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah,

Yahweh caused to happen the word that he had told Jeremiah to say.

Yahweh did what he had promised ⌊the people⌋ through ⌊his prophet⌋ Jeremiah.

36:22c the LORD stirred the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to send a proclamation throughout his kingdom and to put it in writing as follows:

Yahweh led King Cyrus of Persia to make an announcement that was written down and sent all through his country.

He gave King Cyrus, the king of Persia, the desire to write down this decree and send it to all the places in his land. ⌊Here is the decree:⌋

In the first year that Cyrus was the king of Persia, Yahweh led him to write down these words and to send them throughout his country. God did this to bring about what he had told ⌊the prophet⌋ Jeremiah to say.
